Warm up your grip strength with YY Vertical Aliens!
Affectionately named “aliens” for their alien style design, with two arms, two legs and a head. Working similarly to resistance bands, they work through tension and resistance which is why there are three levels.
- Green – Easy, light resistance.
- Blue – Medium, steady resistance.
- Orange – Hard, heavy resistance.
Your forearms, and hand muscle are not different to any other muscle in our bodies, yet you very rarely see anyone warming up their hand muscles particularly in strongman despite so many events requiring you to use your grip strength.
These will allow you to warm up your fingers, hands, and forearms, ideal for grip events such as farmers walks, dinnies handles, and even sandbag events such a sandbag carries, sandbag to shoulder and sand bag throws.
How to use a YY Vertical Alien.
The easiest way to describe how to use is the refer to it as an alien and refer to it’s arms, legs and head. The head of the alien is for your thumb, the arms and legs are designed for your four fingers.
Start b placing the alien tummy up (with the branding facing up). Stretch the head to your thumb before one at a time working from your index finger to your index finger, place the band around your fingers.
This will leave your hand in a claw like position, you will then attempt to stretch your hand out fully. Just like resistance bands, it is down to your strength to control the time under tension.
