About Together We Lift In Aid Of Mind Somerset

Together We Lift is coming to Somerset for the very first time with huge thanks to Progress Gym in Yeovil.

Together We Lift are totally not-for-profit mental health events designed to raise awareness and vital funds for localised mental health charities.

*Please note this is NOT a competition. There are no winners. There are no losers. The event is designed with protecting mental health at the core of every element of the day.

Who should sign up for this event?
EVERYONE! Seriously.

If you are an open’s men’s strongman but want to brush up or get a difference perspective on your lifts then this event is for you.

If you are a complete beginners, have never touched a bar bell let alone a log. This event is for you.

Ultimately you will be split into equal ability groups to ensure your experience of the event is tailored to you.

What does the event consist of?
We will open the doors at 9am, with the view to the first lift taking place at 10am. The even itself comprises of four core event stations that will be supported by elite level coaches who are there for the purpose of working with you to improve your form, technique and even your confidence.

In order to ensure you are surrounded by similar ability lifters we split the groups into equal ability groups using the information you provide at the point of entering.

How many people per equal ability group?
Again, in the interest of protective everyones mental health we will cap this event at 28 meaning their will be no more than 7 per group, however we usually end up with 5 people per group.

What are the four event stations at Together We Lift In Aid Of Mind Somerset?
The team at Together We Lift and the team at Progress Gym are coming together to host the below event stations.

  • Max Deadlift (standard barbell)
  • Overhead Medley. Log Press into Monster Dumbbell
  • Yoke.
  • Strength Register Sandbag to shoulder.

How long do you get on each station?
We work towards 40 minutes but sometimes we find that this can roll into 50 minutes if the coaches is working with an athlete on something specific. Each group gets 15-20 minute breaks between each station to refuel.

The hero event. The ALFitness Team Deadlift Bar.
At the end of each event day, after you have completed the four event stations in your equal ability groups, we all come together as a collective to take part in the hero event which is our ALFitness Team Deadlift Bar.

We run this event on a raising bar format, which allows each pairing to dip in and out when and where they see fit. Depending on what weight we are at, we increase the weight in 40-50kg increments, then as we get towards the top sets we taper this off.

What is the point of the team deadlift bar?
It is the event that brings everything together. It is practical demonstration of how Together We Are Stronger. It highlights the importance of open communication as in order to move the bar smoothly you must communicate and listen to your partner.

Please note:
As part of the sign up process we will ask you for your current personal best on each event to allow us to create the equal ability groups.

If you haven’t tried the event before please put zero. You can update these numbers at anytime should by emailing us.

If you are unsure of anything at all please email us on info@budsfitness.co.uk.
