Here Come The Girls - Strength League

Here Come The Girls’ A Women’s Only Strength League co-promoted by ALFitness, Buds Fitness and Nova Performance.

Within this write up, we aim to provide clarity on the league points ahead of the third and final event in St Ives (Cambridgeshire) on September 8th 2024.

How are the league points scored?

Here Come The Girls, The Strength League allowed us to introduced two separate scoring systems to allow there to be on the day winners for those who can’t make all three events, as well as having an entirely separate scoring system for the league to allow even those entering leg 2 and 3 having missed leg 1 a credible chance of winning the league as well.

On the day points – Typically Strongman Points Scoring System.

League Points – As below:
1st = 10 points.
2nd = 7 points
3rd = 4 points.
1 point for everyone else with points shared where the scoring is the same.

We have found this an effective way of managing the points where the athlete numbers change from event to event.

What are the league standings’ ahead of the 3rd and final leg?

Strongwomen League - Here Come The Girls' 2024 - Novice standings after 2 events

The Novice Category
The support for the novice category has been exceptional from leg 1 in Atherstone way back April, and as we warm up for leg 3 we are looking at an additional six ladies joining event 3 in St Ives on Sunday 8th September.

Katie Skipper - Current League Leader of the Here Come The Girls' Strength League Novice Category

Throughout leg 1 and 2, Katie Skipper has looked pretty flawless in every event of each leg, and ahead of leg 3 would be many people’s favourite to take away the overall league title for 2024.

Jade Osman with an iconic performance on the grip event of Here Come The Girls' Leg 2 hosted by Buds Fitness in Sawtry, Cambridgeshire

With that said Jade Osman is close behind after a truly remarkable leg 2 performance that saw Jade be the only Novice to complete the grip event and romping away with the event win on the overhead press, as well as a joint event win on the tyre flip splitting point with Ann Diggle and Daniela Wallace.

Ronique Collingwood with a tied second place on the overhead press in Sawtry back in June has given Ronique a great chance of securing a podium space for the overall league after a stella performance in leg 1 of Here Come The Girls’.

With that said we have Daniela Wallace signed up and in top form hot off her podium at Devon’s Strongest Women. Not only is Daniela in top form Daniela can be regularly found training out of Nova Performance so perhaps some home gym knowledge could help her pull out a few event wins and secure back-to-back podiums whilst also picking up valuable league points.

Over the first two legs we have seen vast improvements for ALFitness athlete Ann Diggle, and noises out of the ALFitness Gym in Atherstone is that Ann is looking stronger, fitter and faster heading into leg 3.

A massive shout out to Ruth Morris who in her first ever Strongwoman event get an event win in leg two of Here Come The Girls’ actually won the deadlift for reps event, and has put herself in a strong position with 17 points for the overall league despite not featuring in leg 1.

Just three points off Ann and Daniela is Marie Evans (Pilcher). Marie has been spotted training hard, attending event run throughs and competing at Peterborough Strongest hosted in the City Centre of Peterborough which is a big stage and a heavy competitions, so unquestionable Marie will have grown in confidence since leg 2.

Will we see the return of Yvonne Heiden, Katie Wilson, Emily Harnnett or Jenny Bond? These four sadly missed out on leg 2.
Emily Harnnett is signed up to the league so we are hopeful of a return for Emily who has it all to play for with a potential 60 points up for grabs should she win all six events on the day.

Strongwomen League - Here Come The Girls' 2024 - Masters standings after 2 events

The Masters Category
The Masters field for Here Come The Girls’, though not as many athletes the performance from these athletes has been outstanding and is set to provide an exciting final leg with a new names in the category and a returning name from leg 1 also set to feature.

Suzanne Reynolds, turning up and truly giving her all.

Suzanne Reynolds has been outstanding throughout and dropped very few points to date, but with that said, Reb Pawlikiewicz-Peacock has kept Suzanne honest throughout and herself performed exceptionally well.

Reb with her eyes on the prize. Locked in and ready to go.

ALFitness Athlete – Kelly Roberts competed in the opens category in leg 2, so her league points do not carry over but should Kelly decide to enter the Masters for leg 3, there is a chance that Kelly could battle it out for a podium spot in the first year of Here Come The Girls’ Strength League.

A name that I personally was excited to see is returning for Here Come The Girls’ for leg 3, having missed leg 2 is Masters Athlete Claire Vize-Cowper. Claire is an athlete who shows no quit and pushes through on so many occasions and as you can see from the league table, came second in leg 1 despite carrying an injury.

Strongwomen League - Here Come The Girls' 2024 - Opens standings after 2 events

The Opens Category
Opens category, all done bar the shouting. Unless Sophie Roche makes a return, scoring six event wins and Georgia fails to pick up points at all the opens category is won by ALFitness Athlete Georgia Darlison.

Georgia setting the pace for the open weighs and all but securing the league win for 2024.

A massive shout out to Killer Grip – Kelly Roberts for stepping in to Opens for leg 2, to allow Georgia to face some competition on the day. It was a fascinating battle between the two gym-buds on the day and really allows Georgia to have a target to hit in each event.
