Freestanding punchbag by Phoenix Fitness

Phoenix fitness Free standing Punchbag.

A full and comprehensive look at the Phoenix Fitness freestanding punching bag that is now available through Buds Fitness.

How does it arrive?

When ordered from Buds Fitness, it will arrive in two boxes. The upright punch bag itself in one box, and the second box will be complete with an UNFILLED base, as well as the connecting column and parts to assemble.

How long does it take to assemble?

The longest part of “assembly” is filling, this will depend on whether you choose to fill with water or sand. If you are filling with sand like we did, then it can take up to 20 minutes. Water filling will depend on the water pressure in your area, and method used. We’d recommend filling using a hose pipe if you are water filling.

Once filled the attaching the bag to the base will take under a minute.

Step 1 – Screw connecting column to base.
Step 2 – Insert plug and clip on mental clip at the bottom of the connecting column.
Step 3 – Screw the punch bag into the top of the connecting column (which at this stage should already be locked into the base)
Step 4 – Insert plug, and attach metal clip at the top of the connecting column

Do Free standing punch bags fall over?

It happens rarely, and relies on many factors such as the weight the bag is loaded to, the power you striking with and the area of the bag you are striking.

It is more common in water filled free standing bags, but does also happen with sand filled bags.

Ultimately these freestanding bags are designed to absorb punches and kicks, but they are not hanging heavy bags that have the benefits of being secured to a concreate posts or steel upright.

With that said, as an average man, with average striking ability I have not knocked the bag over yet. Ours is filled with between 70-85kg of sand, and I weigh approximately 95kg, standing at 6ft 1inches tall

What makes the Phoenix Fitness Free-standing Punchbag special?

Centralised screw-cap filling system:
This is something we haven’t seen before, many are side filled, and cheaper alternatives only come with rubberised plugs for the filling system.

The benefits of the centralised screw cap filling system, is that it is protected by the connecting column meaning that it is not exposed.
The exposed caps can get damaged when in home gym’s as there is often iron plates, kettlebells and offer hefty home-gym items can make contact with them and snap the screw cap. So the screw-cap being concealed within the central column whilst in use it remains safe.

Triple-lock system:
The Phoenix Fitness freestanding punchbag comes complete with a triple-lock system that connected the base, to the punch bag.

The triple-lock system consists of a centralised connecting column being screwed into place, plugs being secured, and a metal clip being tied around the column. You can see more on our YouTube video.

The benefits of the triple lock system is it secured the bag to the base meaning that the bag will not separate or shift from the base during even the heaviest and more punishing work outs

Final thoughts?

In our opinion a freestanding punchbag is a home-gym essential, and this one in particular with it’s compact footprint, and durable design is exceptional value for money!
